About Us

Weetons Leeds Road is our new flagship retail and dining destination on the outskirts of Harrogate! Offering a stunning, newly created premium home & garden hall, food hall, established plant & garden centre, and a delectable restaurant and cafes.

Alongside this is our newly created in-house floristry offer which, whilst continuing to delight our retail customers, we are looking to significantly grow across various streams, a key one being floristry to compliment our private functions to include weddings etc.

 

The Role

As such we are looking for a highly commercial & creative, hard-working Florist with comprehensive professional experience to join our team and help build our Floristry department.

This is a hands-on role whereby candidates need to demonstrate a high level of creativity and technical competence as well as excellent customer service skills, communication, teamwork and organizational skills.

The position is based at our Leeds Road site and includes facilitating the floristry requirements of our West Park site and providing floral bouquets et al for our private wedding and celebration functions.

 

Principal duties and responsibilities

  • Delivering against the Weetons floristry strategy
  • Ordering flowers and other items to an agreed budget and margin expectation
  • Conditioning and preparation of flowers.
  • Creating seasonal retail designs for hand tied bouquets and arrangements to agreed margin perimeters
  • Preparation of vases, materials, and equipment.
  • Wreath & Other Seasonal floristry making skills.
  • Experience in event and bridal floristry.

Skills and Experience

  • Floristry experience across both retail, event and seasonal floristry.
  • A team player and customer centric
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the flower industry.
  • Excellent knowledge of flower varieties and floristry techniques.
  • A flexible approach to working hours, days and locations.
  • Highly organised with good attention to detail.
  • Highly motivated and able to work under pressure.

The role

We are looking to recruit a dynamic, entrepreneurial, customer & sales centric Delicatessen Manager, reporting to the Food Hall Manager to:

1. Deliver an exceptional & competitive Deli offer that embraces relevant market & competitor trends and aligns with the brand direction

2. Create a sales strategy to deliver continual sales growth whilst ensuring minimal wastage and maximum profit

3. Develop excellent working relations with both our internal and external food production and supply partners to ensure Weetons are market leading in terms of offer, pricing, timing etc

4. Coach & mentor team members to always deliver a customer first approach

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the overall P&L of the Weetons Leeds Road Delicatessen
  • Working with the Owner, MD and other relevant team members to sense check that all parties are aligned on the deli brand vision and direction
  • Full control of the range options, pricing architecture and product mixes
  • Stock management – daily and weekly stock ordering, rotation.
  • Ensuring wastage is minimal - working towards zero food waste.
  • Managing and overseeing the daily deli operations: including team rotas in conjunction with the Food Hall Manager
  • Driving the timely preparation, cooking, and presentation of fresh food which is produced to company specifications which encompass all H&S regulations
  • Supporting the wider team by liaising with our Production, Butchery, Restaurant and Management Teams on seasonal menus and events.
  • Team training and standards: ensuring that all deli team members are fully trained in food preparation, kitchen safety and health standards
  • Responsible for daily ordering
  • Department health & safety standards, cleaning schedules and presentation standards
  • Working with Shop Manager towards the overall success of the Food hall
  • Stock management – daily and weekly stock ordering, rotation
  • Merchandising and presentation of the hot and cold service displays and associated fridges and promotional areas
  • Ensuring paperwork is all correct and the relevant systems kept updated
  • Foodhall duty management duties on opening and closing daily operations.

Skills and Experience

  • Passionate about artisan and local & fresh food with relevant knowledge, experience and training in the food industry
  • Excellent buying and range building skills gained within the food industry
  • Proven knowledge of managing ranges, budgets and teams successfully
  • Exceptional communication skills: oral and written English
  • Creative and entrepreneurial flair
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, possessing excellent conflict & performance management skills
  • Exceptional organisational and leadership skills
  • Outstanding & knowledgeable customer service approach
  • Ability to work well with others displaying exceptional interpersonal and communications skills
  • Dependable and reliable

  • Knowledge of food production and preparation
  • Able to work flexible hours, including weekends
  • Minimum of 2 years food buying experience
  • Proven knowledge of managing ranges, budgets and teams successfully

Qualifications:

  • First Aid trained
  • Level 2/3 food hygiene

The successful candidate whilst having excellent product and buying skills must equally have demonstrable exceptional customer service & team building skills. Essentially displaying a dynamic and proactive approach with the ability to multitask, prioritise and deliver sales growth.

Here at Weetons we pride ourselves on offering the best of locally sourced and on-site created produce in our food hall. At the heart of our business is our aim to consistently offer exceptional customer service and delightful products.

As such we are seeking a 'from scratch' skilled and highly personable Baker to join our food team in our on-site bakery, featured within our food hall. We offer a full-time permanent position, including some weekend work, with the opportunity to support our Head Baker in growing our bakery offer and put us on the map as a 'go to' bakery destination!

 

Duties

  • Working in collaboration with our Head Baker to design, improve and innovate exceptional bakery goods across both sweet and savoury, ensuring all recipes and ingredients are fully logged and costed
  • Ensuring commercial outputs are always achieved with regard to margin and product availability
  • Ensuring every product satisfies food safety & quality standards and that ingredients and finished items are tested
  • Maintaining standards of excellence and compliance with relevant policies and procedures within the department, including Allergen procedures and Health & Safety standards
  • Managing & maintaining documentation on delivery, inventory and output levels
  • Cleaning, sanitising and maintaining all used equipment so the department is ready for the next shift
  • Being a team player and supporting colleagues across the business

Skills

  • A retail facing mindset with excellent presentation skills both self and bakery environment
  • Have a passion for all things Baked and the craft of patisserie
  • Understand the importance of a brand aligned product offer
