Weetons Leeds Road is our flagship Weetons store, a premium retail and dining destination on the outskirts of Harrogate. Our high-quality food hall features both artisan and local supplier produce, along with on-site creations from our bakery, delicatessen, chef-to-go range and butchers. All of which service our delectable restaurant and cafe's.

The role

We are looking to recruit a dynamic, entrepreneurial, customer & sales centric Delicatessen Manager, reporting to the Food Hall Manager to:

1. Deliver an exceptional & competitive Deli offer that embraces relevant market & competitor trends and aligns with the brand direction

2. Create a sales strategy to deliver continual sales growth whilst ensuring minimal wastage and maximum profit

3. Develop excellent working relations with both our internal and external food production and supply partners to ensure Weetons are market leading in terms of offer, pricing, timing etc

4. Coach & mentor team members to always deliver a customer first approach

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the overall P&L of the Weetons Leeds Road Delicatessen
  • Working with the Owner, MD and other relevant team members to sense check that all parties are aligned on the deli brand vision and direction
  • Full control of the range options, pricing architecture and product mixes
  • Stock management – daily and weekly stock ordering, rotation.
  • Ensuring wastage is minimal - working towards zero food waste.
  • Managing and overseeing the daily deli operations: including team rotas in conjunction with the Food Hall Manager
  • Driving the timely preparation, cooking, and presentation of fresh food which is produced to company specifications which encompass all H&S regulations
  • Supporting the wider team by liaising with our Production, Butchery, Restaurant and Management Teams on seasonal menus and events.
  • Team training and standards: ensuring that all deli team members are fully trained in food preparation, kitchen safety and health standards
  • Responsible for daily ordering
  • Department health & safety standards, cleaning schedules and presentation standards
  • Working with Shop Manager towards the overall success of the Food hall
  • Stock management – daily and weekly stock ordering, rotation
  • Merchandising and presentation of the hot and cold service displays and associated fridges and promotional areas
  • Ensuring paperwork is all correct and the relevant systems kept updated
  • Foodhall duty management duties on opening and closing daily operations.

Skills and Experience

  • Passionate about artisan and local & fresh food with relevant knowledge, experience and training in the food industry
  • Excellent buying and range building skills gained within the food industry
  • Proven knowledge of managing ranges, budgets and teams successfully
  • Exceptional communication skills: oral and written English
  • Creative and entrepreneurial flair
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, possessing excellent conflict & performance management skills
  • Exceptional organisational and leadership skills
  • Outstanding & knowledgeable customer service approach
  • Ability to work well with others displaying exceptional interpersonal and communications skills
  • Dependable and reliable
  • Business management skills
  • Knowledge of food production and preparation
  • Able to work flexible hours, including weekends
  • Minimum of 2 years food buying experience
  • Proven knowledge of managing ranges, budgets and teams successfully
  • IT confident

Qualifications:

Preferred:

  • First Aid trained
  • Level 2/3 food hygiene

The successful candidate whilst having excellent product and buying skills must equally have demonstrable exceptional customer service & team building skills. Essentially displaying a dynamic and proactive approach with the ability to multitask, prioritise and deliver sales growth.
